Next Away Game: 1/18/25 at Green Lane

Fun Fact: The Perkiomen Creek has its source in Berks County. Perhaps that’s why there’s a Perkiomen Ave in Reading, Mt Penn, and Exeter, even though the Perky doesn’t merge with Schuylkill for many more miles.

After leaving Berks, the Perkiomen winds its way through MontCo to the luscious Green Lane Reservoir.

We, too, will leave Berks this January and make our way to the “Rue de Vert,” where we will run loops (or at least one loop) around the Perky waters.

Interested? Note the (im)pertinent information below:

Meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18 at the Green Lane Red Trail Parking on Knight Rd (Green Lane, PA).

Routes with exact mileage and elevation will be posted on the Pagoda Pacers Facebook Event Page. The long route from this location is typically about 12 miles, but there will be options for a shorter route.

We will also go out for lunch after the run–location TBD.

Fun Fact: Perkiomen comes from the Lenni Lenape term Pakihm Unk, meaning “cranberry place.”

Final Blues Cruise Training Run Set for 9/7/24

We will meet at the Old Church Road parking area  at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th, and carpool to the lower Stilling Basin lot, to run point-to-point on the Blues Cruise course, starting about 8 a.m.

The run is almost 16 miles. Runners can easily shorten it to just under 14 miles by skipping the Skinner’s Loop portion, and of course adding miles is easy too.

(For those looking for a shorter option, an out-and-back of your desired distance is also an easy option. Just meet us at the Stilling Basin so we can run the first few miles together!)

Please comment on the Facebook Event Page if you have questions or need suggestions. Bring water and nutrition! The route features about 1600 feet of climbing.

This will be a great day to dial in your race-day gear! This includes some of our favorite parts of the Blues Cruise course!

For those who have the time, several of us usually grab lunch together after. Hope to see you there!

Blue Cruise Group Training Run Set for 8/24

Once again, our local weekend long run this month will double as a Blues Cruise training run.

Whether or not you’re training for Blues Cruise, come out for a group run on Saturday, August 24th, at 8 a.m.

We’ll meet at the trailhead on Old Church Rd.

The official route for this run will be a 10k course featuring “Skinner’s Loop.” For those looking for something longer, you can run the course multiple times or add on the “Ski Loop,” which is 7 miles.

More information about the run can be found via Facebook.

Hope you can make it!

Blues Cruise Training Run / Weekend 10-Miler: 7/27/24

This month’s “Weekend 10-Miler” will double as a Blues Cruise Training Run — and runners will have many options to run shorter or longer distances.

The details:

Mark your calendars for a Blues Cruise training run July 27, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Justa Road Parking lot off Brownsville Road.

The route will be a 5 mile “figure 8-ish” loop, with about 700 feet of climbing.

This event will be a fat-ass style run, meaning it is an informal gathering in which participants bring snacks to share. There is no registration or awards.  We’ll have cold water and Gatorade and mark the loop. You can run it as many times as you like!  The beauty of this system is runners of all paces can enjoy a long run together at their own speed, while intersecting each other multiple times during the event.  Bragging rights available to those who complete the most loops or distinguish themselves in any other way that catches our fancy!

Here’s a TENTATIVE course we are considering.  Don’t miss out on the chance to see the mysterious Fugawi Aid Station location before race day! 😜

***THERE ARE NO REST ROOM FACILITIES AT JUSTA ROAD. Nearest bathroom is at State Hill Boat Ramp; plan on stopping there on your way in.

Bring a snack to share, hydration vest or belt, reusable cup, lawn chair, and some dry clothes if you don’t want to leave sweaty.  Post run refueling at Ganly’s Irish Pub! https://ganlysirishpub.com/
