This year’s race will be held on Saturday, December 31st. “Why Saturday?”, you ask. Well, while the race is traditionally held on the last Sunday in December, this year the last Sunday is Christmas Day. When this happens, the race moves to the last Saturday in December – December 31st!
Get those registrations in before the price goes up! Price increase will go into effect at midnight on 12/1. Don’t delay, head on over and sign up for this race to guarantee your hoodie.
I know it’s only September, BUT registration is now open for the 2022 Kris Kringle 5-miler!
This year’s race will be on Saturday, December 31st and will travel in a counterclockwise direction. Yes, it is normally held on a Sunday. However, this year the prior Sunday is Christmas Day, and the following Sunday is New Year’s Day. When this happens, the race is held on a Saturday.
Price increase will go into effect at midnight on 12/1. Don’t delay, head on over and sign up for this race to guarantee your hoodie.
Pacer member Dylan Forrest placed 6th overall in 30:15. Nice job everyone and please see our website for all results.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteer crew, 35 strong. Thank you Mother Nature for providing sunny, warm weather. Special shout out to Andrea Thrush for creating the best painted rocks ever; everyone loved them.
Much appreciation to the Fleet Feet crew led by Jason Corby for the gift card awards. We continue to be the largest race in Berks.
Partial proceeds benefit the BERKS COUTY CROSS COUNTRY COACHES ASSOCIATION.
Please share any feedback with Polly Corvaia or Lisa Domeshek (kriskringledirector@pagodapacers.com).
‘Twas time for the Kris Kringle,
And so it begun.
An in-person race--
Let's see who will run.
Applications were mailed
And planning took place.
We kept moving forward
And hoped we could race.
Registrations came in,
But the numbers were low.
Seemed everyone was waiting
To be sure the race would go.
Back to a 5-Miler,
The regular course was planned.
But the next pandemic might stop us,
And the race would be canned.
But good luck was with us,
And all came together.
500 runners showed up,
And so did good weather.
Kringle’s comeback was successful!
Our volunteers are THE BEST!
Some details yet to complete,
Next month we’ll share the rest.
The 35th running of the KRIS KRINGLE 5 MILE RACE is Sunday December 26th at the Berks County Agricultural Center, 1238 County Welfare Road, Leesport, PA 19533. Registration opens at 8:30, race starts at 10:00. This is an important year for club events to get real racing back after a virtual year.
Race-day registration will be available and we need as many volunteers as possible to get the race off smoothly. If you are racing, consider helping at the registration table. We also need help parking cars, manning road intersections, directing runners at the finish line, presenting awards, and cleaning up afterwards. Volunteers should arrive at the Ag Center between 7:30 – 8:00. Sign the volunteer list at the registration table and let Polly know you are there to help. Masks are required inside the 4H building as per Penn State Extension.
Proceeds benefit high school runners through the Berks County Cross Country Coaches Association and provide college scholarships, free running shoes to students in need, and sponsorship of the Junior High Cross Country Invitational Race.

Welcome back to the race world KRIS KRINGLE! This year’s 5 Mile race will be held at the Berks County Agricultural Center on Sunday, December 26th, at 10:00 a.m., and we can’t wait to see you there!
The race travels in a clockwise direction this year, as we reverse directions every year, giving runners a different perspective of the beautiful course. It is stroller- and walker-friendly. There are fast road sections, slow hill sections, gorgeous trail in the Blue Marsh Lake area, and a section of the Union Canal trail next to a beautiful trout stream. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the Union Canal trail, so pets have to wait with your friends at the finish.
Five year age group awards and High School Cross Country team awards. See the application.

At the February meeting we discussed and voted on splitting the profits from the race with three other organizations. We will donate $800.00 to each of the following organizations:
3. Schuylkill River Greenways. Donation will go towards their fundraising effort to revive the Reading Gateway Section of The Schuylkill River Trail. A volunteer day for this project is March 27 and you must pre-register. For more information see the article in this newsletter “SRT: Reading Gateway Initiative.”
